Cabinets

While in woodworking school I was required to build a period piece.

Queen Anne drop front secretary is built from curly cherry and cherry with walnut as an accent.  Ash is used as the secondary wood.  The hand carved fan highlights the lower section while book matched curly cherry panels highlight the middle and upper sections.  Dovetailed joinery is used on the case pieces and all drawers.  Two hidden compartments are utilized to store valuable documents.  Overall dimensions are 36” wide x 22” deep x 87” tall.    NFS

This custom designed Country Hutch is built from maple, cherry, curly cherry with walnut as an accent.  The raised panels are book matched curly cherry laminated onto maple.   Beveled oval glass highlights the doors on the upper section.  Inlaid cherry ovals and antique brass oval knobs decorate the lower section.  Hand cut mortise and tenon joinery strengthen this piece while hand carved lamb’s tongue soften the chamfered front edges.  Overall dimensions are 84” tall x 41” wide x 21” deep.  NFS

Pictured is a custom designed Wall Hung Cabinet made of maple, spalted maple and walnut. The curve of the rails and panels highlight the curved arched top. A walnut keystone is mimicked in the custom knobs. The dimensions are 53”tall x 34”wide x 7”deep.   NFS

My original designed Quilter’s Cabinet is designed for the quilter to display prized quilts. The two mortise and tenon door frames open to spacious shelves that hold folded quilts. Another option is to hang the quilts for viewing. The top section contains a door that has a fabric panel that can easily be changed by the owner. I can easily custom size this cabinet for your display area. Overall dimensions are 50” wide x 14” deep x 60” tall. The original design is with a hinged lid but has been replaced with a barrister bookcase style lid
